Admissions Policy
Open Enrollment: We are open to all children,
grades K-12. All children will be given an equal opportunity to
attend without discrimination based on race, religion,
disability, ethnic origin, or other legally protected
categories. As well, any child may be precluded as allowable by
law and statutes of the Ohio Revised Code. Preference will be
given to children whose siblings are already enrolled in the
schools.
Lottery: If there are more applicants than
there are spaces, a lottery will be conducted.
Diversity: The scholar population will be diverse. That
means that all children will be welcomed including children that
have been labeled low performing, high performing, learning
disabled or gifted and talented. Our schools perpetuate one
label- scholar. Each child will be referred to and treated as a
scholar.
Environment
The caring environment at ScholARTS will be carefully implemented
and maintained at all times. The schools use systematic methods for
assessing and planning for the emerging needs of the whole child.
This approach gives teachers tools for planning, assessment, and
implementation that keep teachers on track with content standards
and that support children's acquisition of knowledge and skills. Our
compliance system enables administrators to hold teachers
accountable for implementing the required environment, climate, and
curriculum. A safe, caring environment that demands mutual respect
between teachers and children will be maintained. The child-centered
environment at ScholARTS will meet children's socio-emotional,
safety, and academic needs.
Safety and Discipline
Children who attend ScholARTS will be required to respect the
special school environment and maintain the environment that is safe
and conducive to learning. Children are required to comply with all
school rules and polices. Ongoing life skills instruction
supplemented by a fair and consistent discipline policy, and unique
school safety features will teach children to resolve conflicts with
their peers, hold themselves accountable for their actions, and
foster a safe, caring environment. The school holds a zero tolerance
policy on violence, vandalism, and any unsafe behavior or materials.

School Rating:
SI/PSI
ScholARTS
Preparatory & Career Center for Children continues to make academic
progress. Indeed all of our sixth graders were reading two to
three levels below grade when they newly enrolled in our school last
August; but almost half of those same children were proficient on
state tests last spring. Remarkably, these children advanced
two to three grade levels in reading in one school year.
Our children in the third grade performed similarly in reading.
Importantly, our children who have individualized education plans
met the state academic requirements for adequate yearly progress.
The majority of sophomores and 65% of eleventh graders are
proficient in reading. Moreover, the majority of eleventh
graders are also proficient in mathematics. We are proud of
these achievements and we will continue to improve our services and
supports to your child and family!
